KING RICHARD III VISITOR CENTRE

Overview: Exhibition Lighting Design for a new visitor centre at the grave site of King Richard III.
Completed: 2014

The centrepiece of a series of Leicester regeneration projects, this new visitor experience transforms an existing Victorian Gothic building into an exhibition space spanning two floors as well as access to the original gravesite where Richard’s remains were discovered in 2012.

Lighting scenes coordinate and change with dynamic AV displays. A photo-realistic and life size gobo projection within the grave enclosure, made from photographs taken during the initial excavation, allows visitors to see exactly where the skeletal remains were found when first uncovered. All lighting in the design uses LED light fittings, including the detailed gobo projection.
