Overview: Lighting design for a new museum in Auckland Castle
Faith Museum leads visitors on a historical tour that spans 6000 years of faith in the British Isles up until the present day. Beginning in a historic vaulted corridor beneath Auckland Castle and progressing through a modern extension, the story of all faiths unfolds through the perspective of the 250 objects on display.
Lighting is installed with minimal disruption to the historic fabric and maximum effect for the visitor experience. NSLD designed lighting support for all elements of the museum including display lighting, gallery lighting, case lighting, wayfinding, and importantly ambience. A suite of lighting equipment with easy-to-use controls has been effortlessly adopted by the museum staff for alteration when objects and exhibitions change, without the need for specialist programmers or lighting technicians.
